[Smells Like News] Tiger Woods Breaks Silence on Crash
He continues to turn away police investigators, but Tiger Woods issued a statement on his website today about his "embarrassing" car crash early Friday morning.
As you might expect, Tiger's statement failed to clear up any questions about the scrutinized and bizarre, middle-of-the-night accident outside his Florida estate.
“This situation is my fault, and it’s embarrassing to my family and me,” Woods said. “I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
“Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.”
"My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.”
“The only person responsible for the accident is me."
Were Elin Woods (left) and Rachel Uchitel also responsible for Tiger's crash?
The statement came today after Woods’ attorney told the Florida Highway Patrol that for the third straight day Tiger would be unavailable to talk to state troopers.
The meeting was not rescheduled.
Woods concluded his statement by saying the car crash was a private matter, and he intended to keep it that way. Left unanswered were the following questions:
- Could it really be a coincidence that the suspicious crash happened immediately after a tabloid report linked Tiger Woods to mistress Rachel Uchitel?
- What he was going leaving his home at that time of the night, and how did he lose control of his SUV at such a speed that its airbags didn’t deploy?
- Tiger's wife told police she smashed the back windows of his Cadillac Escalade to free him. Was this really necessary, or was it just a cover story?
- If it was a careless mistake, as the above statement suggests, why not speak to state troopers, help them wrap the investigation and move on?
- Were his facial injuries caused by a fight with Elin? If it was just a car accident, why was he talking the next day about ordering a Kobe special?
